NAPFM

The National Association of Police Fleet Managers’ Conference and exhibition is now in its 38th year. The event is recognised as the oldest, and one of the largest, Emergency Service Fleet Events in Europe.

In order to deal with the ever increasing workload, the National Executive Committee is supported by a series of Sub-Committees:

  • Procurement
  • Technical
  • Best Value

In partnership with the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) (formerly Police Information Technology Organisation (PITO)) the NAPFM Framework contracts were introduced for such things as vehicles, tyres, fuel, oil, glass disposal and bar-lights. These have since been recognised to be the best in class and have delivered multi-million pound savings to the Police Service.

2010 sees the next generation of vehicle framework agreements which further enhances the national standardisation of police vehicles.

NAPFM Event

In 1973 the Wiltshire Constabulary hosted a Police Fleet Engineers Seminar at Police Headquarters in Devizes. This was to become an annual event hosted and run by Wiltshire. Gradually the event grew from just a seminar to include a small exhibition.

With the formation of the NAPFM the event changed its name to the NAPFM Conference & Exhibition. The NAPFM Event is widely acknowledged to be one of the best emergency service transport events in Europe, attracting a wide range of both national and international delegates. With the participation of all the Emergency Services, Enforcement Agencies, Government Departments and the Military, the NAPFM Conference and Exhibition is an important date for anyone connected with transport in the public sector.

In 2001 the event moved from Wiltshire Police Headquarters to the Science Museum site at Wroughton near Swindon, where it was to remain for the next 7 years. In 2008 the event moved to Cheltenham Racecourse and in 2010 its new venue becomes Exec Exhibition Centre at the East of England Show Ground, Peterborough, where it will remain in 2011. The event is still organised by Wiltshire Police on behalf of the Police Service in the UK and NAPFM.
